The material

What's leatherette?

Leatherette is a coated synthetic fabric that looks and feels like leather but takes a CO2 laser clean. We use it because we laser-etch every patch in our shop in International Falls -- the etched line is part of the material, so it can't peel, crack, or wash off the way embroidery thread or screen-printed ink eventually does.

The patch is heat-bonded to the hat with a state-of-the-art adhesive -- once it's on, the only way to get it off is to rip the fabric from the hat. If the patch ever does fail, we replace it. No questions.

The shop

Made in International Falls, MN

We're a small shop on the Minnesota-Ontario border. Every patch on every hat is cut, etched, and bonded by hand within ten miles of Rainy Lake. When we say “made in MN” we mean made in the room.
